Samantha Whitesides

Music, Drama, & Admin

Samantha is a lifelong practitioner of the creative arts with an enduring passion for music, abstract photography and art instruction.  Coupled with her enthusiasm for education for both children and adults, she is equally comfortable behind a keyboard, a camera, or a rostrum.  Samantha cares about creative expression and theoretical knowledge, and she seeks to show her students how to fruitfully integrate the two in a blossoming union in an engagement of the self and the world.  She is dedicated to building consensus around a cause or issue where division exists, especially where community leadership is involved.

Samantha also facilitates weekly figure drawing classes for adults and artists in the area as well as teaching classes, including those in the culinary arts, in the Culpeper County Parks & Recreation program.  For many years she has directed and performed alongside area community theater groups, especially the 1,000 Faces Masked Theatre based in Rappahannock.  Additionally, Samantha has extensive experience working with private corporations and non-profit organizations.

In recent years, Samantha has earned a wide range of certifications and appointments – many related to her ongoing dedication to animal welfare – including:  the United Animal Nations Emergency Animal Rescue; the Humane Society of the United States; the Stafford County Emergency Management Services STRACAT program, and other designations specializing in the implementation of county government programs affecting both people and animals.
