Johnny is energetic, dedicated, and connects to students of all ages. He received his undergraduate degree in Spanish Literature and Foreign Affairs from UVA. Johnny completed his master’s degree in Education & Foreign Language Instruction from the UVA Curry School of Education. While at UVA Johnny worked as a tutor, a pizza maker, a bus driver, and a wrestling coach. Johnny’s teaching philosophy is informed by restorative justice practices and influenced particularly by Carol Tomlinson, Doug Lemov, Stephen Krashen, and Bill Van Patten. Johnny first began working at Belle Meade in 2012 teaching Spanish with Alex Campbell-Forte but returned to the University of Virginia to finish his degree.
